Nicolas Schöffer French Artist of Hungarian origin
Born on 6th September in Kalocsa (Hungary) from a lawyer, father and a musician mother. Lived in Paris from 1936 on, became a French citizen in 1948. Died in his Montmartre atelier, Villa des Arts, on the 8th of January 1992. Graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, first had his workks exhibited at the Salon des Indépendents in 1937.
Having got acquainted with the theory of cíbernetics of mathematician Norbert Wiener, Schöffer gave up painting to later develop his personal style that can be devided into three periods:
1. Space dynamics (le Saptiodynamisme) 1948 2, Light dynamics (le Luminodynamisme) 1957 3, Time dynamics (le Chronodynamisme) 1959
His career includes painting, sculpture, architecture, urbanism, performing arts, film, music, teaching and books.

As a consequence of a brain stroke suffered in 1985 Schöffer was no longer able to use his right hand. His later drawings (coreographics), collages (colleographics), digital drawings (ordigraphics) and their combinations (ordicolls) were all the creations of his left hand.
